Tanya Torres was a Natural Resources and Environmental Management Master’s research student at the University of Hawaii at Manoa from August 2017 to May 2020. Her research interests include environmental sustainability and preservation by utilizing GIS and remote sensing. Tanya’s passion is to promote environmental awareness. She loves working with kids and her community to provide environmental education. She actively volunteers with a local non-profit organization, Sustainable Coastlines Hawaii, doing just that. When not in the lab, Tanya is most likely to be found outdoors; at the beach, in the water, or hiking up a mountain. Her love of and interest in taking care of the environment around her stems from being born and raised on the North Shore of Oahu.
